Mercedes is satisfied after the Korean Grand Prix qualifications. Nico Rosberg secures 7th place, which was the best he could do with the Mercedes GP. Michael Schumacher had less luck and got stuck in Q2 due to vibrations with the super-soft tires, placing 11th. Both drivers hope to gain a few positions in the race and score points.

For Red Bull, the biggest unknown will come from the tires for the rest of the weekend. The weather forecast predicts it should be dry tomorrow and Sunday, and the teams have not been able to run with the Pirelli slick tires. Tomorrow morning's final practice session will therefore be crucial for preparing for qualifying and the race, especially since Pirelli has brought the softest tires in its range to this demanding circuit from a tire perspective.

Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher tried different setups and believe they have a good foundation for the rest of the weekend, even though it is expected to be drier tomorrow and Sunday.

Virgin took advantage of this first day of testing to try out some parts that will be on next year's car. Glock experienced suspension problems while Jérôme D'Ambrosio was not satisfied with the overall balance of his car. This will need to be improved for tomorrow.

This first day of testing was disrupted by rain and, therefore, did not allow the HRT team to prepare optimally for the rest of the weekend, which is expected to take place in dry conditions. Nonetheless, Daniel Ricciardo enjoyed his day, which allowed him to gain experience in these challenging conditions.

Like many drivers, Pérez and Kobayashi didn't run much this morning due to the heavy rains that were falling on the Yeongam circuit in South Korea. The two Sauber drivers made up for it in the afternoon, but the Swiss team's car doesn't work well with the intermediate tires provided by Pirelli. They are hoping for drier weather for the rest of the weekend.

On the still damp track of the Yeongam circuit, it was the two McLaren drivers who showed the most speed, confirming the good form displayed by the English single-seater last weekend at Suzuka. Sebastian Vettel takes third position ahead of the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso and his teammate Mark Webber.

It was thought that McLaren would be a formidable opponent this Saturday afternoon, and that was the case, except it is once again Red Bull and Vettel who emerge victorious from this duel by just 9 thousandths of a second. Vettel is obviously thrilled with this new pole position, while Mark Webber is disappointed to be only on the third row of the grid tomorrow.

It's unclear what to expect at Mercedes GP after the qualifying session for the Japanese Grand Prix. Michael Schumacher is pleased with his position on the grid and hopes for a good race on this track he enjoys. On the other side of the garage, Nico Rosberg didn't have the opportunity to defend his chances as he was forced to return to the pits after his installation lap in Q1 due to hydraulic issues. The young German driver will start 23rd tomorrow, but that doesn't stop him from having a sense of humor.
