After testing new parts on the F2012, which Pat Fry considers a positive addition, Scuderia Ferrari still needs to decide which ones will be used for the rest of the weekend. The Italian car, seemingly competitive on long stints, still needs to improve its qualifying pace.

This Friday, HRT aimed to find a solution to its chronic brake overheating issues on a circuit where they would once again be severely tested. Overall, the HRT drivers are satisfied with this first day of testing where they managed to find the right balance on the F112 in constantly changing track conditions and despite limited knowledge of the Emirati circuit.

Toro Rosso is not really having a good time on the Yas Marina track. The STR7 lacks downforce, and its overall performance is affected. Nevertheless, the drivers are not panicking and hope to improve over the course of the weekend.

Even though the first day of testing for the Mercedes drivers went well, Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher are not thrilled because they know their car is not competitive enough. They still hope to pick up some points on Sunday at the end of the race.
