Friday: The Mercedes lack pace

Even though the first day of testing for the Mercedes drivers went well, Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher are not thrilled because they know their car is not competitive enough. They still hope to pick up some points on Sunday at the end of the race.

Friday: The Mercedes lack pace

Nico Rosberg – 7th and 12th:

« It has been a good day of testing, and we were able to evaluate many different things. Unfortunately, we are still lacking pace but I hope to score some points with a good strategy tomorrow and Sunday. Overall, tire degradation is not as significant as last year, so it will be interesting to see how the race unfolds. »

Michael Schumacher – 6th and 14th:

« Today, we experienced what I would call a “normal” Friday – completing several programs, changing settings, and doing data collection work. What we saw at the end of the day is probably where we are, so it’s a rather realistic picture. For now, we are aiming to finish in the points, and that will be our goal this weekend. Aside from that, it’s really very impressive and beautiful to drive here, and driving from day into night is truly something special. »
