If these improvements seem to bring a little extra, they still need to analyze the data to know more about their real contribution to performance. Sauber can be satisfied with their first day on the Monza circuit. Both drivers are happy with the car's behavior, although Kobayashi believes he can improve the balance and therefore the lap time.

First average day for Mercedes GP. Michael Schumacher achieved a very nice third fastest time this afternoon, but Nico Rosberg experienced KERS issues and only finished 22nd. This morning the result was not much more positive for the young German who ended the session in 18th position, while Schumacher just missed out on the top 10. Nevertheless, both drivers are satisfied with their day and hope to have a good session tomorrow.

The Lotus Team is not completely satisfied with its first day of testing. The team encountered various issues and needs to improve grip with the medium tires provided by Pirelli. Jarno Trulli is not satisfied with the balance of the T128 but thinks it should be better tomorrow.
