Aware of the limitations of its car, McLaren opted for a two-stop strategy, requiring its drivers to display a lot of composure and discipline to achieve the expected results. While Jenson Button brilliantly managed to preserve his tires, Sergio Pérez struggled much more and fell short of the points.

Kimi Räikkönen secured his second podium of the season despite an unintentional lift to the nose and front wing of his car - following contact with Sergio Pérez's McLaren - and a hesitant start from the front row. For his part, Romain Grosjean endured a more challenging race, with a ninth-place finish rewarding his tenacity.

If Adrian Sutil could not see the checkered flag after being taken out of the race by Gutiérrez, Paul di Resta showed solid performance to allow the Sahara Force India team to score points in Shanghai, for the first time in its history.

Jules Bianchi had a great race in Shanghai, finishing in 15th position ahead of both Caterhams and his teammate. Even though the Grand Prix was not easy, he is satisfied with his performance and the outcome of the race. Max Chilton also experienced a challenging race but is pleased to have finished ahead of Giedo Van der Garde.

Starting from ninth position with an alternate strategy, Sebastian Vettel missed out on a podium finish by just a few tenths after a fantastic charge on fresh soft tires. Mark Webber, on the other hand, couldn't make it to the finish, as he was involved in a collision with Jean-Eric Vergne and had a wheel come off his RB9.

While he managed to hold his own against Jules Bianchi's Marussia for much of the race, Charles Pic had to settle for 16th place behind his compatriot, yet the race was still a source of satisfaction for the Frenchman. Despite finishing 18th after a tough race, Giedo van der Garde is also striving to stay optimistic for Bahrain.

Nico Hülkenberg had a good start to the race, even taking the lead for a few laps, but the German driver's end of the race wasn't as successful, and he ultimately finished in 10th place, still scoring a point for the Sauber team. On the side of his teammate, Esteban Gutiérrez, things didn't go as well, as the Mexican driver retired after colliding with Sutil after just 5 laps.

Starting from pole position, Lewis Hamilton didn't have the sufficient pace to win, but the Briton still finished on the podium in 3rd place, as in Malaysia during the last race. Nico Rosberg didn't have as much luck; the German driver encountered a problem with his Mercedes and had to retire, but he hopes to make up for it next weekend in Bahrain.

Daniel Ricciardo started from 7th place in Shanghai and finished the race in the same position, earning 6 valuable points for Scuderia Toro Rosso. Jean-Eric Vergne had a more challenging race, notably involving a collision with Mark Webber. He finished outside the points in 12th place.

The Williams team is not competitive enough to fight in the top 10 and this was confirmed this weekend in China. Valtteri Bottas finished in 13th place just ahead of Pastor Maldonado. Both men believe they extracted the maximum from the FW35 and they know they will have to work with the entire team to improve in the upcoming races.
