Sunday: Paul Di Resta brings some points to Force India

If Adrian Sutil could not see the checkered flag after being taken out of the race by Gutiérrez, Paul di Resta showed solid performance to allow the Sahara Force India team to score points in Shanghai, for the first time in its history.

Sunday: Paul Di Resta brings some points to Force India

Paul Di Resta – 8th:

« It’s a good result in the end and a nice recovery after a difficult start. I was battling with Nico (Hülkenberg) on the first lap, but unfortunately, there was contact with Adrian after the hairpin, which pushed me onto the grass and made me lose three or four places. Then I found myself stuck in the pack, my tires were degrading, and I couldn’t make progress. It was only from the third stint that I had space in front of me and the pace of the car was really good. I pushed all the time, and I knew it would be close after the last stop with Grosjean and Hülkenberg. But the team did a great job during the stop; they stayed calm, and we managed to come out ahead of both. If everything had gone as planned, I’m convinced we could have done even better, but it’s nice to score some points and see that our race pace was on point once again. »

Adrian Sutil – Retirement:

« A very disappointing day for me. Things went well in the early laps and then at the hairpin braking, I was hit from behind as I approached the corner. I think Gutiérrez missed his braking point and had nowhere to go… except into my car. My rear wing was broken, and I had no choice but to stop. It’s always a shame not to finish a race, and I had a good chance of scoring points today. I was on softs and the strategy seemed to be shaping up well. »
