While the Scuderia had gambled on an alternate strategy in qualifying, only Fernando Alonso managed to deliver in the race, finishing just eight seconds behind the day's winner. While everything suggested a great battle between Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton, the biggest adversaries for the Austrian team were themselves and also the Lotus team.
