Once again mixed emotions for the Lotus F1 Team at the end of this first round of the 2012 Formula 1 season. Kimi Räikkönen made a remarkable comeback, maneuvering his way from 18th on the grid to finish in the points, in 7th position. Conversely, Romain's fairy tale turned into a nightmare by the third lap, as a collision forced him to retire.

Even if they don't score any points, the Williams team can be relieved after the first Grand Prix of the season. The FW34 is much more competitive than the FW33 was, and the work done over the winter, as well as the numerous changes made within the team, have paid off. The disappointment of not scoring the points from the sixth place is present, but optimism is the order of the day for the rest of the season.

After being outpaced by the McLarens in qualifying, the Red Bulls bounced back in the race. With a roaring start, Sebastian Vettel seized the opportunity offered by the safety car to leave Australia with a second-place finish. Mark Webber, on the other hand, achieved his best career result in Melbourne but narrowly missed out on the podium.

The Marussia team almost succeeded in having both of its drivers finish the Australian Grand Prix. Timo Glock took the checkered flag in 14th position, while Charles Pic did not have that honor. The French driver had to stop in the pits a few laps from the end but was still classified. The Russian team is pleased with the debut of the MR01 in competition but is also aware that there is still a lot of work to be done to improve.

After a disappointing qualifying session, the Sauber team performed well at the Australian Grand Prix. Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez both finished in the points. The Japanese driver climbed to 6th place and the Mexican to 8th after starting 22nd, thanks to a one-stop strategy.

After a mixed weekend, Force India leaves Melbourne with the consolation of having performed as well as in 2011, with Paul di Resta snatching the point for 10th place at the finish line. After a good start, Nico Hülkenberg saw his race come to an abrupt end, his car having been damaged in the first corner collision.

The Toro Rosso team hoped to score points today in Melbourne with Ricciardo starting 10th and Vergne 11th. The goal was achieved for the Italian team, thanks to Daniel Ricciardo's 9th place finish at home, even though the race was not easy to manage. The Faenza team hopes to show equally good form in Malaysia next weekend.

The raw result for the Caterham team is not very good since both drivers were forced to retire due to mechanical failures, but the team leaves Melbourne with the confirmation that the CT01 has closed the gap with the cars ahead. The next appointment, in Malaysia, will be the home Grand Prix for Caterham, who hopes to achieve a good result in front of their fans.

The first Grand Prix of the season is won by Jenson Button, ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Romain Grosjean retired as early as the second lap, falling victim to a collision with Pastor Maldonado who held sixth place for a long time before being involved in an accident in the very last lap.
