No Sauber team single-seater managed to qualify for Q3. Sergio Pérez had an issue on his first lap and hit the barrier, damaging his car. He will start 24th and last. Kamui Kobayashi, on the other hand, will start 11th and hopes to score big points.

Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov hoped to fight for a spot in Q2, but traffic for the Finn and a KERS problem for the Russian dashed their hopes. The two men are 18th and 19th on the grid, and they hope to take advantage of every opportunity tomorrow to climb up the hierarchy.

At the end of a tough session, it was Michael Schumacher who set the fastest time, ahead of Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg.
