Marussia arrived in Melbourne with two rookie F1 drivers: Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton. Both drivers managed to finish the race, and Jules Bianchi finished ahead of Charles Pic's Caterham. The midfield teams weren't even very far away...

Even though they were beaten by the Marussias, both Caterham drivers were quite pleased with their Australian Grand Prix. Giedo Van der Garde is satisfied with his F1 debut and Charles Pic believes that the Malaysian team has a good foundation to build on for the rest of the season.

The Sahara Force India team had a great Australian Grand Prix. Adrian Sutil started on an alternative strategy and it allowed him to lead the race for a few laps. He struggled more towards the end of the Grand Prix but still finished in 7th place. Paul di Resta finished just a few positions behind his teammate at the finish.

The Red Bull team had managed to place its two cars on the front row at the end of qualifying, but the race did not go as well. While Sebastian Vettel still secured a podium, Mark Webber experienced a complicated race with a KERS problem in particular.

For his first Formula 1 race, Valtteri Bottas managed to see the checkered flag, but the Finn finished far back in 14th position. In the race, Jean-Eric Vergne got the upper hand on his teammate at the start. The French driver recorded the second fastest lap of the Grand Prix behind Räikkönen and was able to fight for points. Therefore, the Toro Rosso is fast, and they will need to better exploit its performance next week for the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The race was marked by the surprising form of Adrian Sutil's Force India, which led several laps, and the confirmation of McLaren's difficulties. Mercedes did not succeed in its two-stop strategy.
