Jenson Button aimed to be the first driver on mediums on the grid tomorrow and he succeeded. The British driver was pleased with the progress of his McLaren and his qualifying session. He will surely have a chance to shine tomorrow, just like Sergio Pérez who will start a bit further back but will be eager to climb up the field to secure some points at the finish.

Mark Webber was excluded from the qualifying session of the Chinese Grand Prix by FIA stewards. The Australian driver, who had qualified 14th, suffered a fuel shortage and was consequently penalized. He will therefore start from the back of the grid tomorrow for the race.

There were no Williams drivers in Q3, Valtteri Bottas was even eliminated in Q1, while Pastor Maldonado stopped in Q2. Although the Finnish driver admits he failed to qualify well, his teammate believes he gave his all and that there's still work to do, alongside the entire Grove team, to make the FW35 more competitive.

Charles Pic, who had given up his car for him, was quite happy with his day, even though it wasn't a full day. Giedo Van der Garde had a more difficult day with some issues, but he hopes things will go better tomorrow and on Sunday.

Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton expressed their satisfaction at the end of the first day of testing in China. Both drivers immediately felt the benefits of the new features introduced by the Marussia team, and the day was positive and productive for Bianchi, and a little less so for Chilton, who encountered an engine problem in the afternoon.
