Schumacher new ambassador for Mercedes-Benz
Recently retired from the Formula 1 World Championship, Michael Schumacher quickly found a new occupation. The German driver has just been appointed ambassador for Mercedes-Benz.
Michael Schumacher ended his second career in Formula 1 a few months ago, but the German driver has not forgotten about automobiles, as evidenced by his appointment as ambassador for the “Intelligent Drive” safety and comfort systems developed by Mercedes-Benz, the brand with which he made his F1 comeback in 2010 after three years of retirement.
Mercedes and Schumacher have signed a multi-year partnership, although the exact duration has not been specified. The seven-time world champion will be a luxury consultant for the star brand on road safety issues. As indicated in the press release: « After having worked for years for road safety as a partner, he will now support Mercedes-Benz’s involvement in this area ».
Michael Schumacher will therefore be involved in the technologies that will equip future Mercedes cars and it’s a field in which he is eager to work, as he stated in the press release: “The future interests me more than the present and the past. When I was in Formula 1, I always thought that you cannot rest on your laurels, but you must continually try to improve. To do this, I often had the opportunity to rely on the help of all the technologies available to me in the car and use them to my advantage. That’s why I am a strong supporter of driver assistance systems both for race cars and for everyday vehicles.”
