6 Hours of Imola – Free Practice 2: Ferrari back on top, Corvette still there
Ferrari number 50 finished the second session in first position. The Scuderia showed its superiority on home turf. In GT3, Corvette once again dominated its class, even if the number 85 AF Corse remained in ambush.
They started very quietly before unleashing the horses. In the first laps of the race, the entire field was running about 5-6 seconds slower than during the first free practice session.
But as the loops went by, lap times started to drop. Mick Schumacher with his Alpine was the first man to go below the 1 minute 33 mark (1:32’500”). The young German was then beaten by Kevin Estre who, after only 11 minutes, drove faster than in the FP1. The Porsche driver set the bar at 1:31’299″.
Faster than during FP1.
Antonio Fuoco, in front of his home crowd, went even faster and left the Tricolore almost four tenths behind (1:30’957”). Further down the standings, in GT3, the Manthey PureXcing Porsche set an interesting first time of 1:42’885”, ahead of the Akodis and TF Sport number 82.

The lap times have only slightly evolved throughout the rest of the session. The Ferrari number 83 sped up in the last minutes and grabbed the third place from the Toyota number 8. In LMGT3, the TF Sport 81 outperformed the sister car by two tenths (1:41’986”).
As for the French forces, the Peugeot number 94 driven by Loïc Duval is the highest ranked with a sixth place, just ahead of the Alpine number 36 by four thousandths (1:32’500”). The second Lion is one place behind still. But one must go much further to find the Alpine 35 which finished with the 14th time.
Isotta Fraschini far away
On its home turf, the Isotta Fraschini ended this second session in last position with a time of 1:34’076”, one second slower than the second-to-last Hypercar, the Porsche number 5.
Corvette once again dominated the LMGT3 session. The number 81 was the fastest in 1:41.986. However, the Ferrari number 55 from Team AF Corse did not finish far behind and managed to slot in with the other car from TF Sport. The Iron Dames were a bit further back, finishing in ninth place (1:42.883).
