From F1 to WEC? If the rumor had gained importance a few months ago, some will start talking about it more seriously. Sebastian Vettel will take the wheel of a Hypercar next week. Porsche will entrust its 963 to the German during a 36-hour test at the Aragon circuit.
The four-time world champion will share the wheel with the team’s drivers, including Andre Lotterer and Michael Christensen. This test will take place in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will be held in June. Even though the German manufacturer has not announced the participation of the former Ferrari driver in the endurance race.
However, the third Porsche that will compete at Le Mans currently has only one driver behind the wheel. There are still two spots available.
« I have always followed other categories than Formula 1 and my curiosity for Endurance encouraged me to give it a try. I am looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the Porsche. I am even excited. It will definitely take some getting used to, but everyone in the team is helping me. We will see what this new experience brings me. At the moment, there is no other plan for the future, confirms the German.
