1812 kilometers of Qatar – Qualifying: Porsche flexes its muscles

Matt Campbell achieved the first pole position of the season in Qatar. The driver of the number 5 car was just ahead of the number 7 Toyota.

And if it was the team to watch this season. A few weeks after making a splash on the other side of the Atlantic, at Daytona, Porsche strikes again. This time in the WEC, in Qatar.

The Stuttgart team achieved the best performance in the Hyperpole during the 1812 kilometers of Qatar. This result confirms the initial impressions from the trials. Porsche had led the first two sessions, held on Thursday, February 29th.

Matt Campbell, on board the number 5, set a time of 1:39’347”. This is a little over a tenth ahead of the reigning world champion team, Toyota. Nyck de Vries finished in second place with a time of 1:39’511”. The Porsche from Team Jota completes the Top 3.

Corvette dominates in LMGT3.

Ferrari and Peugeot have achieved mixed qualifying results. The number 94 car of the French team will start from the tenth position, while the sister car will start 6th. The Scuderia posted the 4th and 8th fastest times on Friday, March 1st.

Isotta Fraschini, who is having its first race in Hypercar, is struggling and has been two seconds slower than everyone else.

In LMGT3, the TF Sport Corvette will start from pole position after lapping nearly a second faster than the Purexcing Manthey Porsche 92. The Iron Dames, for their first race in the Lamborghini in WEC, will start from 6th place.
