Moscow ePrix – Race: Piquet wins with flair

Nelson Piquet Jr clinched his second Formula E victory in Moscow by taking the lead at the start from pole-sitter Jean-Eric Vergne. With this victory, the Brazilian increased his lead in the drivers’ championship over the di Grassi/Buemi duo, who finished in that order behind Piquet.

Sébastien Buemi had a bit of luck finishing on the podium, having been held up in the pits for 68 seconds by the e.dams-Renault team instead of the minimum 58 seconds. Despite losing these 10 seconds, the Swiss driver attacked at the end of the race to climb up the standings.

Nick Heidfeld finishes 4th ahead of Vergne – author of the fastest lap, Abt, Duran, da Costa, Prost, and Wilson who, in his first Formula E ePrix, finishes in the top 10 and therefore scores a point.

Piquet Jr obviously expressed his delight with his victory at the finish: « We were really well prepared coming to Russia. We knew it would be an important race for us after, I must say, not performing well in Berlin. I think everything is important – testing, and particularly doing well in qualifying was very important here. I believe that if we hadn’t qualified at the front, it would have been almost impossible to win the race. »
