By scoring eight points, Rosberg salvaged the situation in Montreal and doesn't lose too much ground on the championship leaders. Enough to approach the rest of the season with undiminished optimism.

After a thrilling Canadian Grand Prix, team principals reflect on their respective race performances, starting, of course, with McLaren, which claimed victory for the third consecutive time in Montreal. Lewis Hamilton became the seventh driver to step onto the top of the podium in as many races this season.

Unlucky since the beginning of the season, Lewis Hamilton finally manages to piece together all the elements of a long-awaited but deserved victory, thanks to an aggressive strategy. As for Jenson Button, he pays the price for a lack of practice during free runs and also for differentiated settings that do not seem to bear fruit.

By staying on track in the last 20 laps of the race, Fernando Alonso was overtaken by three of his opponents with fresher tires, including Sebastian Vettel, whom he had been ahead of since his first stop. For the Spaniard, it was the only way to snatch victory. Felipe Massa, on the other hand, saw his race spoiled by a spin early in the event, which sent him back into the pack with vibrations.

On a circuit he didn't know from Eve or Adam before this weekend, Romain Grosjean delivered a remarkable race performance, which allowed him, thanks to a one-stop strategy, to finish on the podium. Eighth at the finish, Kimi Räikkönen also climbed up the pack but believes he could have done better.

What a race for Sauber, proving once again that its car is capable of a lot with economical strategies. Starting 15th, Sergio Pérez clinched the podium, his second of the season and his career. Meanwhile, Kamui Kobayashi had to settle for points, less fortunate than his Mexican teammate in terms of strategy.

The Red Bull drivers ultimately had to settle for 4th and 7th places in the race after starting from 1st and 4th positions on the grid, as the RB8s consumed their tires faster than expected. While the one-stop strategy gamble for Vettel did not pay off, Mark Webber found himself stuck behind drivers who had attempted—and succeeded with—this one-stop strategy.

The results were very poor for Marussia after the Canadian Grand Prix. The British team didn't benefit from their new aero package and failed to find the right settings. French driver Charles Pic managed to finish the race without any issues, which he was happy about, but the Marussia cars are far from the performance of Caterham. Pic set his best lap time during the race at 1:20.632, more than two and a half seconds behind Kovalainen's time. Timo Glock, on the other hand, faced many reliability problems: brakes, engine overheating, not to mention the significant degradation of his rear tires. The team is now looking forward to the European Grand Prix in Valencia, eager to achieve performances closer to those of Caterham.
