Ready to hit the road today at Ferrari
With the upcoming event - if the race is not ultimately canceled - the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 13, all the teams of the 2011 World Championship are present today at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Barcelona, Spain. Ferrari is no exception to the rule.
Same machine, same objective, to accumulate kilometers. The message is clear at Ferrari: reliability comes before performance, and this will still be the case from Friday to Monday in Barcelona.
An unchanged program
Technicians and mechanics of the Scuderia are already in Montmelò to prepare everything for the first of four test days on the schedule. It is the Spanish driver Fernando Alonso who will start the action in red on Friday and Saturday, before being replaced by the Brazilian Felipe Massa starting from Sunday.
The Ferrari F150th Italia on the Catalunya circuit will have the same configuration as its predecessors in Valencia and Jerez. Same car, same objectives: grind the asphalt, again and again. This is to gather important data on the new Pirelli tires and also to improve the reliability of the single-seater, if improvement is needed.
A difference, however
Indeed, although there are no new aerodynamic features, the F150th Italia is still in an intermediate version before the first race, the chassis will not be the same. The number 287, never used before, will replace the number 288, which has been sent back to Maranello where it will receive the necessary updates for the Sakhir race.
