Sebastian Vettel will benefit from a new chassis for the Turkish Grand Prix after his team discovered a defect in the car he used in Monaco.
The young German was beaten by his teammate Mark Webber in the last two races. In Monaco, Vettel couldn’t match the frenzied pace of the Australian throughout the weekend.
After the race, the cars returned to the factory, the team conducted a thorough investigation on Vettel’s car, and an issue was detected with chassis no. 3, but nothing was specified.
With Red Bull’s policy of giving both of its drivers an equal chance to fight for the championship, it was decided to give a replacement chassis to Vettel for the next race in Istanbul.
Regarding this change, Christian Horner, the director of RBR, stated: « Sebastian Vettel experienced some issues with his chassis during the Monaco GP. After a more thorough investigation, a small defect was found on his chassis, which will be replaced for the next race in Turkey. »
It should be noted that Mark Webber started the season in Bahrain with chassis No. 2, and RBR preferred chassis No. 4 from the following GP. Could it be possible that the Austrian team has a weak point?
