Colin Kolles, head of the HRT team, admitted that the goal is to finish the race with both cars before considering increasing our performance.
The second driver, Karun Chandhok, allowed the young team to see its first finish line in Australia, while his teammate, Bruno Senna, retired due to a mechanical problem with his car: « We have reached a first goal by finishing a race, now we want both our drivers to achieve that ».
The two drivers know the Malaysian Grand Prix from having raced there in GP2, and they are eager to start their 3rd Grand Prix: « I am very excited to go to Malaysia, and since I have already raced there in GP2, I know the track well. I hope we will have better performances, but we will see what I can do at Sepang, » says Senna.
Chandhok, for his part, adds: “I have already driven on this track a number of times, and even won with Renault. My winter preparation has paid off, I completed the Australian Grand Prix entirely, and I wasn’t exhausted at the end of the race. It’s a good sign for Sepang, where conditions are more challenging. I hope to achieve new things for the team.”
After successfully finishing the Australian Grand Prix with one car, HRT now hopes to complete Sepang with both drivers from start to finish.
