Force India thinks it can achieve multiple podium finishes in 2010

After this first Grand Prix weekend, there is one man who dares to believe in the success of his team: Vijay Mallya. The Indian billionaire and owner of Force India is pleased with this first race and admits to hoping for some highlights this season, including several podiums.

« When I see what we are doing today, I think we are very competitive, everything is going as planned… I am obviously very happy, despite what happened to Adrian [Sutil] at the start. »

Sutil, qualified in the top 10, finishes 12th following a collision with Kubica (Renault) in the first lap. Regarding his other driver, the Italian Tonio Liuzzi, who started in 12th place on the grid and finished 9th, Mallya is exuberant:

« It’s not a question of having proven oneself or not. I think he drove admirably well. He managed to preserve his tires while being fast, he brought the car to the finish line and even in the points. All the credit for this performance goes to him. »

Force India has just reached a milestone with this encouraging result, and the Mallya team will have to be reckoned with this season, as the Indian manager wants to put pressure on Renault and Williams: « We have opened our account in this first race and I believe there is a great chance that we can now score points regularly. »

The big boss of the team indulges in the game of predictions:

« I wouldn’t be surprised if we achieve a few podiums this season. Next year, it will be time to consistently aim for podium finishes. »
