Stirling Moss thanked everyone who sent him their best wishes following his elevator accident and also said that he was on the road to recovery.

The sports legend broke both ankles after falling into an elevator shaft at home and is still recovering in the hospital.

Stirling Moss is considered a legend in motorsport. An Englishman born in 1929, he never managed to take the Formula 1 title and was crowned four times as world vice-champion… He ended his career in 1961 after 10 years in the sport and is now 80 years old.

The Englishman broke his ankle last week during an elevator accident where the car gave way and fell three floors.

In a video message sent from his hospital bed, the Englishman states that his condition has improved and he looks forward to returning home.

« I want to thank all the people out there who were kind enough to write to me after the accident » he said on his official site.

« I am happy to say that I am feeling better, I am not yet at my best but it’s improving and I hope it will be even better in a week or two. Then I should take it easy, which is a bit boring but still… I will bounce back as soon as possible. »
