Alguersuari aims for Red Bull in 2011

Spanish Jaime Alguersuari confessed that his goal for the near future, or even before the end of the year, was to move to Toro Rosso’s sister team, Red Bull Racing.

The young 19-year-old driver joined the small Faenza team last summer, replacing Sébastien Bourdais. Although he shone in his first race, finishing ahead of his teammate Buemi, Alguersuari did not often see the finish line in the following races and ended the year with a 14th place as his best result.

This year, after long negotiations with Toro Rosso, Jaime’s father stated that only the good words from Helmut Marko, Red Bull consultant, about his son allowed him to have a new chance in Formula 1. This provided motivation and a strong desire to do well for Jaime in 2010, who reveals that his goal is to do things right and be an asset for Toro Rosso.

What I really hope is to take the step towards Red Bull, which is a really competitive team and wins races. That’s the goal, which, of course, is also that of my teammate Sébastien Buemi, declared the Spaniard in the newspaper El Mundo.

Although based in Italy and forced in 2010 to build its own chassis, the Toro Rosso team is still controlled by Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz, with the constant goal of debuting and advancing young drivers from the development program in F1.
