Although Lotus has confirmed its intention to become the best of the new entrant teams in 2010, Jarno Trulli insists that the coming season will mainly be used to establish a guideline for the future.
The Malaysian team signed two GP winners for 2010, Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen (one victory each), which demonstrates the ambition and determination to succeed of the new Lotus team.
“We have to be realistic,” announced Jarno Trulli. “It’s going to be a difficult season, and to start, what we need is to be reasonably competitive. In fact, the goal will probably be to showcase some good performances by the end of the year. As I said, it’s a long-term project, and the first season is dedicated to gradually building the team.”
«I am with Lotus for the next three years because I want to build something strong, like I did with Toyota. If you remember Toyota, we were very close to victory, and that’s what I want to replicate and this time try to achieve. » added the Italian driver full of ambition.
Jarno Trulli will begin his 14th season in F1 in Bahrain after having driven for Minardi, Prost, Jordan, Renault, and Toyota.
