The Renault Formula 1 team announced on Tuesday the appointment of Eric Boullier as team principal with immediate effect. Boullier will replace Flavio Briatore.
With an engineering background, Eric Boullier joins Renault with a wealth of motorsport experience. Having started as a racing engineer ten years ago, he transitioned to management with the DAMS team as General Manager in 2003, overseeing race operations in various categories, including the GP2 series. The 36-year-old Frenchman also acted as team director for Team France in the A1GP series between 2007 and 2009.
Speaking at the announcement, Eric Boullier commented: « I am extremely proud to join the Renault F1 Team as Team Director. Renault is one of the most famous names with a lot of success in motorsport. I look forward to leading the team for the new season. In the past, Renault has demonstrated that it is one of the best teams in Formula 1, and I am sure that through hard work and determination, we can fight at the front once again. »
