Fisichella does not rule out a return to racing in 2010

Giancarlo Fisichella does not rule out the possibility of returning to Force India next season. The Italian is competing this Sunday in his last race for Ferrari, which has offered him a reserve driver position for 2010.

However, despite the contract with Scuderia, Fisichella does not rule out returning to racing, but only with a well-established team.

Speaking in Abu Dhabi before his last Grand Prix for Ferrari, Giancarlo Fisichella said he would sit down with his bosses after the season to look at proposals for 2010. “After this race, we will see what the possibilities are,” Fisichella said. “For now, we are only talking about this race.”

«So far, I do not plan to return to racing with a new team. But if there is a good opportunity to race with a team that has experience, then I would prefer that. However, starting all over again from scratch, like Force India last year, I think it’s difficult.»

When asked if there was a chance for him to return to his former team Force India, Fisichella replies: «Why not? It’s open. It could be Force India. There are a lot of teams without drivers at the moment.»

Fisichella’s transfer to Ferrari since the Italian GP hasn’t yielded the results he and the team were hoping for. The Italian admits he would be far from satisfied if the season were to end without him scoring a single point for the Scuderia.

“It’s a bit frustrating,” he explains. “I would be disappointed, but I do my best. It’s not easy to transition from a Force India to a Ferrari as their behaviors and drivability are completely different.”

«I drove for 14 years in F1 as I wanted and today I have to change my driving style, my braking technique, my downshifting. I’m doing my best. In the last races, my race pace was good, the problem comes from the qualifying sessions. Here, on the long runs, I had the same pace as Kimi.»
