Williams will display two new logos in Abu Dhabi

Williams will display two new logos this weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit. Firstly, the drivers’ helmets will feature a logo supporting a charitable cause. Secondly, Williams F1 has entered into a new commercial partnership with Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), whose logo will be present on the FW31 cars.

To help celebrate the 35th anniversary of the national charity Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), Williams F1 will place the organization’s logo on each side of the helmets of Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima, which will be worn during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1st.

Following his car accident in 1986, Frank Williams received invaluable personal support from the SIA. Since then, he and his company continue to assist the SIA and offer support for many of the organization’s fundraising activities.

Frank Williams stated: The SIA is dedicated to improving the lives of those with spinal cord injuries who often find themselves in difficult circumstances. Like many charitable organizations, the SIA is run by a group of selfless individuals who deserve as much support in their efforts as possible. That’s why we are delighted to be able to offer our support.

Additionally, Williams has partnered with QTSP to create a Williams technology center in Qatar, with the aim of commercializing technologies originating from Formula One, such as the Kers initially, for road cars. This technology center will be built on 45,000 m² and will employ 20 people.

« It is uncommon for an F1 team to move its activities outside of Europe, » admitted Sir Frank Williams. « But we were very impressed by the Qatar Science & Technology Park, which offers a fertile environment for research and development. Her Highness Sheikha Mozah aims for Qatar to become a leader in the field of beneficial technology development. After careful consideration, we decided it was an opportunity not to be missed. »
