The outgoing world champion Lewis Hamilton has predicted that next year’s championship will turn out to be the best that Formula 1 has seen in a while.
A welcome assessment considering the boredom of this year, even though 2009 offered an exciting battle between BrawnGP and Red Bull drivers for the standings and it’s not over. The action in general was disappointing with Grand Prix races that often resembled a demonstration rather than a race.
Discipline has not been stimulated by some of its best drivers, to a certain extent. Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, and the Brit himself have been stuck in cars that did not match their talents. Next year, however, should be very different, with new regulations such as the ban on refueling. The double world champion has moved to Ferrari, while for Iceman, rumors suggest he might be the new teammate of the young prodigy at McLaren.
These changes could, according to Lewis Hamilton, offer the best show to F1 fans in years, which they have witnessed: « Next year is going to be a very exciting year. It might be that the fastest drivers are in the fastest cars, and we will have a real championship on our hands, the best in a while. » Declared the reigning world champion.
