After Rubens Barrichello declared he wanted to win at Interlagos, with Sébastien Vettel and Jenson Button expressing the same goal, and Lewis Hamilton adding that he wants to be on the podium, now it’s Iceman’s turn who also wants a nice spot as a birthday gift. This weekend’s Grand Prix promises to be thrilling, with only three podium places available, there’s bound to be a spectacle on the track.
The Scuderia driver asserts that his goal is to finish on the podium at the Brazilian Grand Prix, admitting it won’t be an easy task. After finishing fourth at the Japanese Grand Prix last week, the Finn believes that the race at Interlagos could be challenging for his team, which stopped developing the F60 several weeks ago. Despite this, Kimi Räikkönen, who will turn 30 on Saturday, still hopes to celebrate his birthday on the podium.
Traditionally, the Interlagos circuit has always been favorable to Ferrari and we really hope that this will be the case this year too, even if we know it will be difficult, explains Iceman. My goal is to secure a podium finish, which will not be easy. With each race, things are getting tougher for us because other teams continue to improve their cars, while we have been using the same car for two months. We have to be perfect and take advantage of any weaknesses of our competitors.
« I will celebrate my 30th birthday on Saturday. A place on the podium would be a wonderful gift, but as I just said, our competitors must contribute to it somehow. We will try to maintain the third position in the constructors’ championship. » Concluded Kimi Räikkönen
