Christian Horner: « Make Me Räikkönen »

Who would have thought, given the incredible domination at the beginning of the year by Brawn GP and Jenson Button, that the drivers’ championship would be this thrilling with only two races left in the season?

The English driver still has a thick cushion of 14 points over Rubens Barrichello and a 16-point lead over Sebastian Vettel, but for several days, he has been repeatedly reminded by all the teams of the sensational 2007 season finale. At that time, Kimi Räikkönen was 17 points behind with two races to go and ultimately the Finn celebrated the title in his first year at Ferrari.

Within the ranks of Red Bull, the hope that such a scenario could repeat itself in a similar form is very much alive. As proof, the Red Bull team boss is heating up the atmosphere in the race for the drivers’ title by inventing a new expression and adding a bit of pressure on Jenson Button’s shoulders.

Button can still lose everything followed by Make Me Räikkönen, declared Christian Horner, addressing Sebastian Vettel, which one could try to translate as do me a Raikko or do it Raikko style. This new expression might stick around in the F1 paddocks for a while.

The German driver can be quite carefree in the last two races; he knows what he needs to do to keep the suspense going until the end, to win without thinking about the Englishman. And his teammate Mark Webber will be there to support him in Interlagos just as Felipe Massa did for Iceman.
