Sebastian Vettel still has only a slim chance of being crowned this season, but he can surely count on his teammate, Mark Webber. He will do everything in his power to help him during the two remaining races this season. The Australian driver is now, mathematically, out of the running for the title race, and he will therefore play the lieutenant for Vettel, in Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
Mark has a team spirit and fully understands that he must now help Sebastian, said Red Bull director Christian Horner to the German magazine Sport Bild. Mark Webber had previously stated: If the team asks me, I will race for Sebastian.
Thanks to his victory in Suzuka, Vettel has closed the gap to 16 points behind Jenson Button, who remains the leader in the championship. The Red Bull was at least half a second faster than any other car in Japan, and Vettel expects that the upcoming track, Interlagos, will suit his Red Bull Racing better than the Brawn GP cars. In these circumstances, Vettel could very well win in Brazil and further reduce the gap with the Briton in the championship before the final race in Abu Dhabi.
In addition to the support of his teammate, Sebastian Vettel could also benefit from the open war between teammates at Brawn GP, between Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button. The Brazilian is also still determined to win the title and will do everything possible in front of his home crowd to finish ahead of Jenson Button. The only downside for Sebastian Vettel is his engine supply. He no longer has a single new engine available, and a 10-place grid penalty would surely be fatal if he were to use an additional power unit.
