The Renault team does not doubt Romain Grosjean’s abilities, as he suffered in Italy and Singapore due to a very unreliable car.

Romain Grosjean accumulated technical problems during the last races. Gearbox and KERS issues handicapped him throughout the race in Monza, and brake problems in Singapore forced him to retire after only three laps.

The Franco-Swiss has not yet been able to demonstrate what he is capable of. I have no doubt about his abilities: he is young, he is confident, and he is very competent, stated Bob Bell, the new team director. He had brake problems this weekend, and we need to do everything possible to resolve them for Suzuka. Besides, it’s a very different circuit, and I think this track will be easier for him.

His braking system should be completely changed for the Japanese Grand Prix. He will need a Renault in perfect working condition at Suzuka, a technical track that highlights the talent of drivers.

« It’s an interesting track and for a more traditional circuit, it presents quite a few challenges, » notes Bell. « A good balance of the car is necessary. Brake performance is less important at Suzuka, which should help address the issues Romain had. Downforce will be medium to high. »

« Some corners present significant challenges for the drivers, so it’s necessary for them to remain focused and confident at all times. Overall, it’s a circuit where we’ve had success in the past, and Fernando particularly enjoys Suzuka; therefore, we want to rise to the challenge this weekend. »
