Saturday: Ferrari struggles in Singapore

Ferrari struggled during these qualifying sessions due to the permanent halt in the development of the cars for the year 2009. Fisichella, the Italian from Ferrari, finished in 20th position in the last free practice session and only 18th in the first qualifying session.

The Finnish Kimi Räikkönen, making the most of his car, took the 13th place in the qualifiers. The Ferraris don’t have much hope but are hoping for a stroke of luck to get into the points for the Singapore Grand Prix, which will take place tomorrow.

Kimi Räikkönen – 12th and 13th:

Unfortunately, today we were simply not fast enough to get into Q3 and there isn’t much we could do about it. Tomorrow, we can expect a tough race, as it is hard to overtake here. Scoring points will be complicated. As for the tires, I think tomorrow there could be an issue with wear on the soft tires, even though the situation might improve during the race.

Giancarlo Fisichella – 20th and 18th:

Obviously, I am disappointed with this result. I really wanted to do well, but I still haven’t managed to find the right level of confidence in this car, especially on such a difficult track. I will try to gain positions at the start, then make the most of the race pace. Finishing in the points would be the maximum.

Chris Dyer – Technical Director:

A really difficult qualification for us, even more difficult than we expected. We knew it would be a complicated session. But honestly, we didn’t have the performance to do it. Kimi did two good laps in Q2, but it wasn’t enough. Tomorrow’s race will be very long, so let’s hope we can gain places at the start and score points.
