Jaime Alguersuari will start from the pit lane for the Italian Grand Prix after Toro Rosso made some changes to his car after qualifying.
The team replaced the radiators on their car and removed a “gurney flap” from the upper element of its rear wing. The “gurney flap” is an edge that is added to the rear end of the wing flap to increase aerodynamic downforce. The regulations require, due to Parc Fermé, that after these changes, Jaime Alguersuari starts from the pit lane.
It won’t make much difference for him anyway since he qualified in 20th and last place. Toro Rosso also replaced his gearbox following the last free practice sessions.
On the other hand, the BMW drivers escaped a penalty for changing the power unit on their car. Indeed, the replacement falls within the eight engines the drivers are entitled to during the season.
