After a disastrous weekend in Belgium, it is with a lot of determination that the Toyota team tries to make progress. Unfortunately, it is in 19th position that Trulli finishes during the first session, just ahead of his German teammate, Glock, who is at the back of this session. The German, Timo Glock, will do much better during the afternoon session, taking the 6th fastest time. The Italian, in front of his home crowd, will only manage 13th.
The Toyota team improves as the laps go by, but will that be enough to qualify in the Top 10?
Jarno Trulli – 19th and 13th:
« It was a pretty typical Friday for me, and everything went smoothly, without any issues. As usual, we tested both tire choices and worked on the car setup. We also made some improvements, which is why I felt better by the end of the afternoon. We still have work to do to improve the car and get the most out of it. It’s nice to be back in Italy and drive in front of my supporters. I hope to have a good race on Sunday. »
Timo Glock – 20th and 6th:
«The second session was relatively good. We had a difficult morning, but by changing the set-up, the car became generally better. The curbs have changed compared to last year, but it’s still acceptable. Today’s weather helped us with our performance.»
Didier Gass – Chief Engineer:
Monza is always very special, but since we haven’t had private tests, the difference compared to other tracks seems bigger. We’ve had a hectic day, and we’ve gathered a lot of data. Regarding the tires, the hards and softs seem to behave more or less as expected.
