The transfer of the Italian from Force India to Ferrari as a replacement for Felipe Massa, as well as his contract signed with the Scuderia, suggested that Fisichella’s long career was about to come to an end. This is apparently not so clear.
The native of Rome, now 36 years old, explained to the Italian newspaper La Stampa: “For now, I’m focused on scoring points to defend Ferrari’s third position in the constructors’ championship. Then, if Ferrari agrees, in 2010 I might drive for another team.”
Fisichella will work at Ferrari with Massa’s race engineer, Rob Smedley, with whom he has already had the opportunity to collaborate at Jordan in 2002 and 2003.
