F1 – Italian GP: Williams aims for points

The last victory of the Williams team at Monza dates back to 2001 with Juan-Pablo Montoya, an eternity for Williams… This season, without KERS (SREC in French), it seems very much like a mission impossible for the team at the temple of speed that is the Monza circuit.

Nevertheless, the single-seater from Grove is a reliable and competitive machine on all tracks. Rosberg can therefore legitimately hope to finish in the points, and this for the ninth consecutive time, while Nakajima will try to open his score in the championship.

Nico Rosberg – Racing Driver:

« Certainly, Monza is one of the top five tracks in the world. I have a few Italian friends and some of them will come for the race. On our side, we don’t expect much because we think that Monza’s statistics are similar to those of Spa, so we don’t ask ourselves too many questions. However, I know we have worked hard at the factory since the end of the first practice session in Belgium, so we’ll see. In Monza, the generations that knew Enzo Ferrari were inspired by him. Every bar, every restaurant has a television to watch the races, and strangely enough, I’m better known in Italy than at home. It’s just that the sport is very popular in this country and almost everyone knows all the drivers’ names. »

Kazuki Nakajima – Racing Driver:

« In Italy, you can’t stop people from loving F1. So it will be a festive weekend, and all I can say is that I love going back there every year. It’s a track that stands out, is exciting, and presents a challenge for the drivers, but don’t forget that even if we struggled at Spa, the Monza circuit has always suited our cars well in previous years, so I am quite optimistic. »
