After losing his F1 seat at Toro Rosso last July, Sébastien Bourdais has decided to join another single-seater series, the Superleague Formula.
This championship began last year and offers a unique combination of motorsport and football. Bourdais has signed with the team that represents the colors of the Spanish club FC Sevilla. The Frenchman will replace the Argentine driver Esteban Guerrieri.
“For a driver, the Superleague Formula is the best alternative to F1,” said the Manceau during an interview published on the official Superleague website. “Today, it’s the only other championship in Europe that offers drivers the opportunity to race in single-seaters at a high and professional level.”
Sébastien Bourdais will make his Superleague debut at the Estoril circuit in Portugal next weekend.
“My desire is obviously to be competitive from the start,” he declares. “To date, I have only done a few laps with the car and the team is relatively new to the championship. Winning my first race won’t be easy, that’s for sure. I also want to have fun, which hasn’t been the case for me in recent months.”
