As Felipe Massa recovers well from his injuries, Ferrari has indicated that it does not expect the Brazilian to participate in a Grand Prix before the start of the 2010 championship. It is remembered that Massa suffered damage to his skull and his left eye during the last Hungarian Grand Prix, during qualifying due to an 800-gram damper, hitting the Ferrari driver directly on the helmet, sending him into a wall of tires.
Medical exams were conducted in Miami yesterday, all of which tested positive. Therefore, Massa will start a progressive physical preparation program. “I am very happy with the results,” said Felipe Massa on Ferrari’s official website. “After the minor surgery that will take place in the coming days, I can finally start going to the gym to get back in shape and conduct some kart tests.”
The 28-year-old driver indicated that he will take measures for a full recovery both: « For now, I am focusing on physical activities, which is a big step forward. » Ferrari stated that they « look forward to relying on Massa 100% for the start of the next Formula 1 season. »
For the last 5 races of the 2009 season, it is highly likely that Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella will take the seat of the second Ferrari, replacing Luca Badoer, starting from the next Italian Grand Prix in Monza.
