Alonso: Impossible to drive for Ferrari in 2009

Fernando Alonso stated that he could not be a driver for the Ferrari team before the end of this season. Although the former double world champion remains silent about his future, the Spaniard has confirmed that any steps aimed at replacing Luca Badoer at Ferrari in 2009 are impossible.

With rumors naming several drivers, including Giancarlo Fisichella, to be Kimi Räikkönen’s teammate starting from the Italian Grand Prix, Alonso, whom everyone believes will head to Maranello for 2010, clarified all rumors suggesting he would replace Luca Badoer.

« After this week it seems that it will be Fisichella, but now maybe another driver will be named, » said Alonso on the Spanish radio Cadena SER.

However, when asked about his own name at Ferrari, the response from the Oviedo driver was clear. “No, not me,” he simply said.

« No, no, it’s impossible and I’m sure the answer is no. »

The paddock gossip at Spa this weekend linked Alonso with Ferrari as well as a return to McLaren for next season, although Fernando Alonso sticks to the facts, as opposed to speculations.

« We must inform quickly but I don’t know when, in the next few weeks, the next few months … » He laughed after being questioned about the announcement of his future, «… when we have made a decision and know where we will be next year. »
