None of the drivers were penalized for the first lap accidents at the Belgian Grand Prix last Sunday. However, two incidents took place at the Combes corner, which led the race stewards to study the causes of these collisions more thoroughly. The first accident involved Jenson Button and the Franco-Swiss driver, Romain Grosjean. Lewis Hamilton and Jaime Alguersuari were involved in the second collision.
Each driver has a different version, especially between the championship leader who accuses Romain Grosjean of having hit his rear wheel, and the Renault driver who reports that Jenson Button simply took him out. The FIA stewards settled the dispute by ruling that the incidents did not require any further action.
Lewis Hamilton, reigning world champion, states that he was taken out by the new Toro Rosso recruit, while the Spaniard explains that he touched the McLaren to avoid another collision. Once again, the stewards have decided to take no action.
