Luca Badoer was disappointed to go home, believing that the Belgian Grand Prix might be his last. After starting from the back of the grid, the Italian driver, replacing Felipe Massa, finished fourteenth and last among the racers at Spa-Francorchamps, but feels more confident for his national Grand Prix in about two weeks, at Monza.
Having qualified and finished last in Valencia just over a week ago, history repeated itself for the oldest driver on the grid in Belgium.
Today, I did my best and really wish to participate in my national Grand Prix, a circuit I know very well, said Badoer.
The rumors continued to circulate at Spa this Sunday, saying that Giancarlo Fisichella could replace Badoer at Monza for the next Grand Prix, but Ferrari will wait for the results of Felipe Massa’s medical examination in Miami this Monday before deciding which driver will be in the second Ferrari for the Italian GP.
