Friday: Ferrari approaches qualifying with confidence

Scuderia Ferrari did not expect the podium finish in Spain, at the European Grand Prix. However, the KERS gives a significant advantage to the F60, providing it with a level of competitiveness similar to the best. This is how Kimi Räikkönen achieved the 7th fastest time in the first session, despite the rain. Luca Badoer, in Felipe Massa’s Ferrari, finished in a commendable 10th position in the rain.

The second session was not as brilliant as the first for Scuderia Ferrari, despite a fine 3rd place for the Finn Kimi Räikkönen. The latter was forced to return to the pits earlier than planned due to an engine issue. The Italian veteran closed the standings for the second practice session. While Luca Badoer’s goal will be to improve throughout the weekend, Räikkönen’s aim will be to be among the best during the qualifying sessions.

Luca Badoer – 10th and 20th:

« In the rain this morning, I was quite pleased with my performance, even though I would have preferred to drive on dry conditions all the time to increase my understanding of the car. In the afternoon, we made some changes to the setup, but I still couldn’t find the ideal setting for my driving style, and therefore, I didn’t have the right feel to attack every corner. We have another session available to work on the car. My goal for qualifying is very simple: to make it into Q2. »

**Kimi Räikkönen – 7th and 3rd**

«I am happy with the work we produced today and my overall feeling is positive. The car seems to be fast, even though we know it’s only Friday and therefore we can’t be quite sure where we stand compared to others. We had some technical issues, although they didn’t have a significant impact on the day.»

Stefano Domenicali – Team Manager:

«For our part, we can be satisfied with the performance of the F60, which has proven to be competitive both in dry and wet conditions. Kimi was very fast and I think he can be a major player this weekend. With the twentieth place, Luca has taken a step forward compared to Valencia by showing that he needs to do more laps on the track. This morning’s rain didn’t help him, even though he was more competitive in those conditions. We expect to see him continue to improve throughout the weekend.
