The Toro Rosso team aimed to shine on the challenging Spa-Francorchamps circuit after a chaotic weekend at the European Grand Prix. Jaime Alguersuari recorded the 5th fastest time in the first practice session before finishing in 9th place during the day’s second session. Swiss driver Sebastien Buemi took 4th place, just ahead of his teammate. However, in the second free practice session, Buemi posted the 11th fastest time. Promising signs ahead of Saturday’s qualifying sessions.
Jaime Alguersuari – 5th and 9th:
« In the past, I have always been competitive here in Formula 3 and in other cars, and I think everything went well today. It’s nice to drive a Formula 1 car on a track where you feel comfortable. I have better feelings with the car now, and we had a few good improvements during the two practice sessions. My pace is improving, and I am becoming more confident with the car in fast corners. »
Sebastien Buemi – 4th and 11th:
« It’s a beautiful circuit, and we had a very good car, so I’m satisfied with the way things went today. We managed to improve the car lap after lap, and we’re working in the right direction. I think we have good speed, although we won’t make it to Q3 tomorrow. I find there’s not much difference between the two types of tires, but as always, we’re a little bit faster with the Options. »
