Alex Wurz stated that his Superfund team would not be applying to take the spot left vacant by BMW on the grid in 2010. The FIA has reopened the selection process for new team entries to ensure there are 13 participants next year.
It seemed agreed that Superfund, a project originally supported by Austrians Alexander Wurz and Christian Baha, was on the FIA reserve list containing 7 names that were invited to write back to Max Mosley to reactivate their application.
But Wurz specified to the Austrian media ORF that Superfund is no longer interested: « On one hand, it’s too late, and on the other, there is no longer the budget limitation of 45 million euros. »
The 35-year-old former driver is also linked to rumors of a possible seat next year with USF1.
