The FOTA wants to help BMW Sauber

After Honda in December 2008, it’s the turn of another manufacturer to turn its back on Formula 1, due to an economic crisis that particularly affects the automotive sector. The FOTA has promised to do everything possible to help ensure a future for the BMW-Sauber team following its decision to leave the F1 world.

Just as FOTA arranged for Brawn GP to line up on the Grand Prix grids after Honda’s withdrawal, FOTA general secretary Perillo Simone mentioned this Wednesday that the racing teams wanted to confirm their support for BMW-Sauber.

« The FOTA teams immediately consulted with each other and are ready to provide all necessary support to the BMW team, » states Perillo.

The FOTA is about to start a detailed evaluation on the various improvements that can be made to the sport, with the incredible solution being that teams could race with three cars.

« It is important to mention that professional work has already begun within the FOTA to increase fan participation and improve the show in F1. The FOTA teams now wish to have the certainty and stability necessary to be part of Formula 1 in order to focus on fundamental priorities for the future, » adds the general secretary Perillo.
