Ross Brawn is adamant. His team will emerge and regain its form. During the last Grand Prix at Silverstone, described as disappointing by the Brawn GP leaders, the team experienced its worst weekend of the year so far.
The BGP 001 of Rubens Barrichello finished in a distant 3rd place, while the championship leader Jenson Button had to settle for 6th place after winning six of the first seven races of the season.
At Red Bull Racing, the main rival, it’s 18 points that have been added to Adrian Newey’s team’s tally. Thanks to the one-two finish by Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, the team’s second of the season, Red Bull is back in the championship battle and now positions itself as the only team capable of competing with Brawn GP.
But the white and fluorescent yellow cars plan to defend themselves next weekend in Germany, where the team will have new modifications. Ross Brawn, the team’s boss, is also confident that his team will learn from the experience at Silverstone to become stronger in the upcoming races.
The team is looking forward to returning to the German Grand Prix next weekend and the Nurburgring should be a good circuit for our cars, stated the British leader.
« We have several new aerodynamic elements since Silverstone that have not been used in qualifying or in the race due to issues we encountered there. Today, we have improvements planned for the Nurburgring that should position us well over the weekend, » adds Ross Brawn.
« Even if with a 3rd and a 6th place at Silverstone, we can consider it a good result, we are the first to admit that these places did not meet our expectations. »
As the German Grand Prix is a home race for Mercedes-Benz, we have hopes of coming back with a good result, announced the head of Brawn GP.
Button is also optimistic that his team is capable of bouncing back after a three-week break.
He indeed declares: « With the break week, everyone at the factory and at ‘Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines’ worked extremely hard to achieve the best possible package for the race. We are eager to show what the car can do at the Nurburgring. »
The British leader adds: « My last appearance at Silverstone showed that the car’s pace is very competitive, so we are confident about what we can achieve during this race. I am convinced that we will see an intense battle with our closest competitors. We also hope for a great race for the fans. »
In a week, the German Grand Prix will take place on the legendary Nurburgring circuit. All the teams are preparing for the second part of the season after a long break. Who will come out on top? For several years now, the winner of the Nurburgring circuit… has been crowned at the end of the season.
