Webber still believes in the 2009 title

Mark Webber did not start the season in the best way, having been injured during his challenge in Tasmania last November, just before the preparation for the 2009 season began.

However, its destiny took a more favorable turn when the Red Bull RB5 proved to be very competitive, thanks in particular to the ingenious design of Adrian Newey.

From now on, as surprising as it may seem, Webber is engaged in the battle for the ultimate title, for the first time in his career. With four podium finishes (including 3 in second place), the 32-year-old Australian is only 3.5 points behind the driver experts consider Jenson Button’s biggest rival for the crown, his teammate Sebastian Vettel.

Still waiting for his first F1 victory, Webber is very happy with his performances this year and insists that he not be forgotten in the battle for the title this season.

« I am getting good results and have been very consistent on Sunday afternoons. I am very confident about scoring big points again in the future. Whether it will be enough to stay ahead still needs to be confirmed. But currently, I am, and yes, I am very happy with my performances so far this year! »

In parallel, the Australian is taking time off from racing for his preparation after undergoing minor surgery following his bicycle accident this winter. Formula 1 will be back in action in two weeks, in Germany, on the famous Nurburgring circuit.

It doesn’t take much for things to change quickly, so I’m looking forward to Nurburgring the hopeful Australian adds, noting however that there is still a long way to go for the title race this year.
