Kimi Räikkönen will soon enhance his rally experience with a first appearance in a World Rally Championship (WRC) event.
After recently participating in 3 minor rallies in Finland and Italy, the 2007 world champion has registered to take part in the Finnish round of the championship, which will take place from July 31 to August 2.
The Ferrari driver will once again be behind the wheel of a FIAT Abarth Grande Punto S2000, prepared by his compatriot Tommi Makinen’s team, while Kaj Lindstrom will be his co-driver.
« It’s always a great rally, and for Kimi, it will of course be even more special because it will be his first, » Lindstrom told the Finnish newspaper Italehti.
« It is one of the fastest rallies in the world and twice as long, for example, as the Arctic rally. »
Despite the fact that Kimi Räikkönen is still committed to the parent company FIAT and asserts his full commitment to Formula 1, no one sees in these repeated rally participations a preparation for an imminent career change.
