Towards a Return of Ron Dennis in the Paddocks?

The departure of Max Mosley as head of the FIA, either with immediate effect or following the elections next October, could bring Ron Dennis to the F1 circuits more regularly, in the McLaren-Mercedes pit.

The rumor emerged this week in the British media, with *The Times* announcing, according to an undisclosed source, that Ron Dennis will appear more frequently in public than he had accustomed his fans to in recent months. Sidelined from F1 at the beginning of the year for the good of his team, the Englishman is considering resurfacing as soon as Mosley leaves his position. Currently, the iconic head of McLaren holds the more serene role of director of the McLaren Roadcar division, for road cars.

Mosley and Dennis have long maintained a very tense relationship and reportedly have not spoken since the time when McLaren was involved in the espionage affair against Ferrari in 2007, which resulted in the team’s exclusion from the constructors’ championship.

Last April, the FIA president half-admitted that there were no heavy sanctions against McLaren after the Australian Grand Prix lies episode precisely because Dennis had stepped aside. A sort of exchange of favors…

« F1 spectators might be able to see him a bit more from now on », stated the source from the Times about Ron Dennis. « There is little doubt that he will be tempted to return to F1, now that his enemy is no longer part of it. »

Of course, this could be called into question since Mosley is re-evaluating his future, following the comments – uncomplimentary according to him – from FOTA regarding his desire to leave his position.
